User-Centric Design: Building EQX for all users

The current cryptocurrency landscape often feels overly complex, and people hesitate to trust what they don't understand. At EQX, we aim to change that. One of the ways we plan to become the most trusted cryptocurrency platform is through an intuitive and transparent experience for all users. With a product emphasis on solving for anxiety through user-centric designs, our hope is to simplify the process and reduce the barriers to adoption.

Complexities in Crypto 

A fundamental barrier to widespread crypto adoption is complexity. A recent survey found that 30% of non-users cited the complexity of cryptocurrency as a major barrier to adoption. The complexity of onboarding, complicated interfaces, and new terminology can even intimidate existing crypto users from changing exchanges. 

At EQX we don’t want to overcomplicate an already intimidating process. With our intuitive onboarding process we want everyone to feel comfortable, from crypto newbies to experienced users. See below to view how quick and simple we onboard users from the sign up-page.

Transparent by Design

Transparency is key to building a trusted crypto exchange. We understand the anxiety that both new and experienced users feel when joining an exchange, especially after the FTX fiasco. With 76% of users admitting they’re skeptical about the transparency of their chosen exchange, trust in exchanges is clearly low with users. That’s why EQX operates with transparency-by-default as a core product pillar, eliminating the guesswork and anxiety associated with trusting an exchange.  

Instead of rushing users to sign up or verify their identity immediately, we allow potential users to take their time to explore our platform first. We want to showcase EQX’s value upfront and let users decide if they want to join without any pressure. Before going through the onboarding process, we allow users to:

• Explore Supported Coins: Users will be able to search and view all of the coins supported on EQX. 
• Explore Daily Trends: With each coin supported users can explore the price change in the past 24 hours. 
• Explore Coin Details: Users can view coin details related to each coin like the bid price, ask price, and the 24 hour high and lows. 

This transparent approach provides users with context about what EQX offers. We want users to experience our platform and decide for themselves if they want to join. From day one users can experience EQX with no “gotcha moments”. What you see is what you get.

Cutting out the Fluff

Time is precious, and we respect that. EQX is designed for users who want quick, reliable access to their crypto accounts without unnecessary distractions. By intentionally presenting account-related information upfront, we enable users to easily check their accounts at a glance with minimal effort required.

Whether that’s….

At the end of the week, when you’re tired and want to quickly review your account.

Or first thing in the morning when you’re still half asleep as part of your morning routine. 

Or quickly checking top coin prices while on-the-go.

We don’t want users wasting time scrolling and searching for useful information. We prioritized the most important content to users at the top of the page without having to scroll. That’s why we implemented an “above the fold” approach on the homepage shown below. By the end of the Alpha phase users will be able to view their current and past portfolio balances at a glance without scrolling far. 

We know the crypto world can feel complicated and intimidating. At EQX, we’re making it easy with no unnecessary jargon or guesswork. We believe in lowering the barrier of entry into crypto so much so that we have a crypto glossary in our help center that helps users familiarize themselves with crypto jargon.
